Just in time for Spring.  Cover Girl and Ginger traveled to Massachusetts last Sunday to meet and greet people at Flatbreads in Bedford.  She refused to go home before stopping at the mall to get a new pair of shoes.  When Ginger was asked for her opinion, she demurred.

Spring Has Sprung at BITS ETC!

Spring is really here—mud and all! And there are a lot of new and exciting things happening at BITS ETC! Where to begin …

First, BITS ETC is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year! Thank you to all of our students, parents, volunteers, instructors, sponsors, donors and everyone who has made it all possible to provide high quality therapeutic riding and equine assisted activities to people living with disabilities and personal challenges. We’re looking forward to the next exciting and rewarding 10 years!

Katy Duffey, New Barn Manager

Katy Duffey joins BITS as our full-time barn manager! Katy, who has taught riding at BITS for several years and has an impressive resume in many horse-related activities, was hired in March to manage the daily operations at the barn. In addition to keeping track of feed, supplies, the herd and more, Katy will be the go-to person for volunteers, students and parents while at the barn. Katy looks forward to teaching, as well.

Lessons

New this year: Saturday lessons! To accommodate our students and volunteers, BITS ETC will be offering Saturday lessons from 10 am to 5 pm, in addition to our weekday lessons. Call or email BITS to schedule your lesson now.

Volunteers

BITS will be offering volunteer training one Saturday a month. Our need for volunteers is greater than ever because of the addition of Saturday lessons. If you don’t already volunteer, please consider getting trained! If you DO volunteer, thank you! And please tell your friends and family how much fun it is, and how much we could use their help, too! Next training: Saturday, May 25th,  2-4 pm.

The newly revised volunteer manual will be available shortly. If you volunteer, please make sure you have an up-to-date copy, and read it.

Our Horses

BITS recently acquired two new therapy horses, who need your help acclimating to our programs.  Come on by and meet Rosie, a beautiful bay, quarter horse with summer camp experience, very gentle and sweet. The other is a Shetland pony gelding, Babe, who will be perfect for our smaller students. Check out the web page for photos and more info.

Sadly, a few of our horses will be retiring and leaving us shortly.  Cowgirl and Thor will be retiring from therapy work and leaving us soon.

Welcome Inga Jenuit!

Inga Jenuit is an intern from Germany who will be staying at BITS for a month. She is certified in Germany to teach regular and therapeutic riding, and comes to the US to learn how we provide these services here--as well as to practice her English. She will be offering a limited number of lessons, so please let us know as soon as possible if you’re interested in a riding lesson with a German twist.

Cover Girl is on the road these days.  Her van was out of commission for a while, but now she's off and running once again.  Last evening she mingled with business owners at the Concord Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event at the Hilton Hotel.  A great time was had by all!  The poor photography just illustrates how fast Cover Girl makes new friends...  Today she's off to Hollis to meet with some women who really want to meet and greet!  No stopping her now...
